Is Quit Smoking Laser Therapy A Fraud?

There are some who maintain that quit smoking laser therapy is a fraud.

According to a report in June 2006 by consumeraffairs.com the public consumer watchdog group “Public Citizen” has asked the FDA to stop 5 companies from promoting their quit smoking laser therapies on the basis that they don’t work.

The 5 companies, which are Freedom Laser Therapy Inc., the Anne Penman Laser Therapy clinics, New Beginnings Laser Therapy, Laser Concept and the Stop Smoking Laser Center are all promoting low power laser therapy as a safe and effective way of quitting smoking.

Consumeraffairs.com claims that this is because there is no evidence that low power laser therapy, or what is called sometimes low power laser acupuncture, has any effect on helping people stop smoking and is not approved by the FDA for use for assisting people to stop smoking.

It is approved by the FDA for marketing for assistance in the relief of pain, but not to assist in quitting smoking.

For more information about this read the consumeraffairs.com story. More on Is Quit Smoking Laser Therapy A Fraud?
